I-Hwa Cheng is a Taiwanese photojournalist based in Taipei, Taiwan. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2012 before beginning her photojournalism career. She started out as a staff photographer for the national newspaper the United Daily News in Taiwan for 5 years before venturing into freelancing. Currently she’s been working mostly for Bloomberg, Reuters and Agence France-Presse as a multimedia journalist producing both photos and videos.

Her works have been published globally with titles including New York Times, CNN, The Economist, Bloomberg, Associated Press, Reuters, Wall Street Journal, Initium Media, AFP, The Daily Telegraph, Financial Times, Libération, Le Monde. She received two Honorable Mention from the International Photography Awards 2021 of her photography works. 

She also has been working as a short documentary filmmaker with Eastern Standard Times which is a Los Angeles-based media platform sharing stories from Asia to the world.

Other than journalistic assignments, she is also a documentary-style birth photographer specializing in raw, honest stories of new life and motherhood.
